About the Artist

Astrid Ho is a Hong Kong-born, Toronto-based visual artist focusing on print-based works, and print installations.  She graduated with honours in 1997 from the Ontario College of Art and Design with an Associate diploma, completing her final year in Florence, Italy under the OCAD Study-Abroad Program.  It was in Italy, where she worked with intaglio under the guidance of master printmaker Patrick Aubert in the Santa Reparata Graphic Center. Astrid returned to OCAD University in 2008 and completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2010.

In her professional career, Astrid has been an active member of various artist-run spaces and events, including co-founding the Propeller Centre for the Visual Arts in 1996, and is affiliated with AWOL Gallery and Studios since 2000.  In 2005, she was selected for a printmaking residency at the Vermont Studio Center with a partial fellowship.  She has also taught at the McMichael, Harbourfront Centre, Latcham Gallery and Open Studio.  In 2009, Astrid received an Ontario Arts Council Access and Career Development Grant.

Currently, she is a staff and artist member of Open Studio, and has had various exhibitions including Sir Wilfred Grenfell College Art Gallery (NFLD), Olive Branch Press (NY), Open Studio (ON), and Harbourfront Centre (ON).  Her works are represented in various corporate and private collections, both nationally and internationally, including The Canada Council Art Bank, Holt Renfrew of Canada, National Bank of Canada, St. Michael’s College (University of Toronto), and Vale Inco.
